Kalu’s support for Jonathan cosmetic, says Abia LG boss

The Transition Committee Chairman of Umunneochi Local Government Area
of Abia State, Mr. Jasper Uche, has alleged that the sudden support of
former Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu for President Goodluck Jonathan is

"cosmetic and suspicious".
Uche who made this assertion in an interview with The PUNCH yesterday
in Umuahia, warned the Presidency to be wary of Kalu who he said
cannot be a dependable political ally.
He told the ex-governor to stop dissipating energy in trying to return
to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party through the back door whereas
he is secretly oiling his ailing party, the Progressive Peoples
Alliance.
He said, "While Kalu is claiming to be a member of PDP to hoodwink a
few feeble political minds, he is at the same time making spirited
efforts to oil other political platforms in order to spring up
surprises.
"He has also assumed the unsolicited campaigner for President Jonathan
to temporarily shield his business trajectory from the searchlight of
the state apparatus."
Uche also chided Kalu for criticising PDP over the choice of Charles
Ogbonnaya as the Chairman of the ad-hoc delegate congress, which he
(Kalu) alleged was a ploy by Gov. Theodore Orji to rubber stamp his
"anointed successor".
He said, "But Kalu forgot that in our very presence, he not only made
his brother, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha the Administrative Secretary of PPA,
but also unilaterally made him the PPA State Chairman.
"So, he obviously lacks the moral gunfire to admonish the PDP he has
of course, remained a gatecrasher."
The Council boss also berated Kalu for his sustained media campaign
against Orji, which he attributed to greed, arguing that "if Kalu
truly performed as he wants us to believe, why is he the only
ex-governor in Nigeria struggling fruitlessly to remind the people of
his achievements?"
